Jon Rahm Wins LIV Golf Mexico City by Six as Legion XIII Sweeps Both Titles
Jon Rahm fired a bogey-free 64 to win LIV Golf Mexico City at 21 under by six over David Puig, and Legion XIII took the team title by nine.

Jon Rahm needed five holes on Sunday to turn a two-shot lead into a coronation. By the time the Legion XIII captain walked off the fifth green at Club de Golf Chapultepec, the lead was six, and the only real question left was how many trophies Legion XIII would carry out of Mexico City.
The answer was all of them. Rahm closed with a bogey-free 7-under 64 to finish at 21-under 263 and win LIV Golf Mexico City by six shots over David Puig. Josele Ballester took third, completing an all-Spanish podium, and Legion XIII won the team title by nine.
The Five-Hole Knockout
Rahm opened with a par, then went to work. At the drivable par-4 second, Rahm two-putted from 66 feet for birdie. At the par-4 third, the tee shot finished inside 3 feet for a tap-in eagle. Birdie putts from 14 feet and 20 feet followed on the next two holes, and just like that a tight final group became a procession.
The swing was brutal on Tyrrell Hatton, who began the day two back in that final pairing. Hatton made a double bogey at the second, the same hole where Rahm birdied, and never got the round going. A 1-over 72 left the Englishman tied for fifth at 11 under, alongside Tom McKibbin and Branden Grace. "He got off to just a perfect start, and yeah, unfortunately for me it ended up being a difficult day," Hatton said, per LIV Golf.
Puig Makes It Interesting
For a while, Puig threatened to spoil the script. Fresh off a career-best LIV round of 62 on Saturday, the Fireballs GC player birdied three of the first four holes and eagled the par-5 seventh. A birdie at the 10th cut Rahm's lead to three.
That was the moment that mattered. Rahm sprayed a drive at the 10th and faced a 15-foot putt to save par. It went in. "That putt on the 10th hole was massive," Rahm said. A birdie at the par-5 12th restored the margin, and Puig gave two shots back with bogeys at the 13th and 15th.
Puig still signed for a 66 and a solo second at 15 under, worth valuable world ranking points that CBS Sports reported should secure a spot in the PGA Championship. "I still think I had my chances, right, even with how good he started," Puig said. Ballester shot 67 to finish third at 14 under, and HyFlyers GC fill-in Scott Vincent was fourth at 12 under after a 69.
Rahm admitted the names right behind him added fuel. "Seeing those two names up there, two friends, makes me want to beat them even more," Rahm said of Puig and Ballester.
Rahm's Numbers Keep Climbing
This was the fourth individual LIV title for Rahm and the most decisive of the lot. It is also his second win of 2026 after LIV Golf Hong Kong, and the full season line through six events is absurd: two wins, three solo seconds and a solo fifth.
Counting individual and team titles, Rahm now owns 16 LIV trophies, the most of any player in the league and one more than Bryson DeChambeau, despite two fewer seasons. Remember, too, that Rahm arrived in Mexico City off a tie for 38th at the Masters. Rahm summed up the turnaround with a single phrase: a little bit of disbelief.
Legion XIII Holds On for the Team Title
The team race was closer than Friday's scoreboard suggested it would be, but never truly in doubt. Legion XIII's record 19-shot lead after 36 holes had already shrunk to 15 on Saturday, and Fireballs GC cut it again on Sunday with a 13-under team round behind Puig's 66, Ballester's 67 and a 67 from captain Sergio Garcia.
Legion XIII answered with 7 under. Rahm's 64 did the heavy lifting, with Caleb Surratt adding 70, McKibbin 71 and Hatton 72, for a 45-under total and a nine-shot win over Fireballs at 36 under. Southern Guards GC finished third at 26 under.
It is the first team win of the season for Legion XIII and the ninth regular-season team title in its history, tying the Crushers for the most in the league. Under this season's format, with all four scores counting every round, that kind of margin over 72 holes speaks to depth as much as star power.
A Messy Week, a Clean Finish
The win came against a chaotic backdrop. DeChambeau, who arrived chasing a third straight LIV title, withdrew before the final round with a wrist injury, 16 shots behind Rahm, and said the plan was to be evaluated with LIV Golf Virginia in mind. Earlier in the week an outage on Tuesday and a two-hour streaming blackout during the opening round fed more speculation about the league, and CEO Scott O'Neil told staff in a memo that LIV's funding was assured through the end of the year. LIV also confirmed it will return to Chapultepec next year.
None of that touched Rahm. A year after Joaquin Niemann won here, Rahm sat inside the top two from Thursday on and owned Sunday outright, and Legion XIII leaves with both trophies.
