Questions?
Our privacy lead answers within five business days.
Undrafted is free to read and we would like to keep the data exchange behind that as small as possible. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how to get rid of it.
1. WHAT WE COLLECT
If you never create an account, we collect basic request data — page URL, referrer, approximate region derived from IP, device and browser type — and nothing that identifies you personally.
If you create an account, we also store your name, email address, hashed password, saved articles, followed leagues and preference settings. Contributors additionally have a public profile, submitted pitches and payment details handled by our payments processor.
We do not collect precise location, we do not buy third-party audience data, and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
2. HOW WE USE IT
To run the site, to keep your saved articles in sync across devices, to send the newsletter you asked for, to prevent abuse, and to understand which coverage is worth expanding. That last one is aggregate: we look at how many people read a WNBA recap, not who they were.
We do not use your reading history to build advertising profiles, and we do not run behavioral ad networks on the site.
3. COOKIES & ANALYTICS
We set a session cookie when you log in and a small preferences cookie for text size, motion and time-zone settings. Our analytics is privacy-preserving and cookieless by default.
You can review and change everything from Cookie Preferences at any time.
4. WHO WE SHARE WITH
A short list of processors who help us operate: hosting, email delivery, analytics, and payments for contributor invoices. Each is bound by contract to use the data only to provide that service.
We disclose data to law enforcement only where legally required, and we will tell you unless we are legally barred from doing so.
5. YOUR CHOICES & RIGHTS
You can access, correct, export or delete your data from Settings, or by writing to us. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to certain processing or to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Deleting your account removes your profile, saved items and preferences within 30 days.
6. DATA RETENTION
Account data is kept while your account is active. Request logs are kept for 90 days for security and debugging, then discarded. Contributor payment records are kept as long as tax law requires.
7. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
Undrafted is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will remove it.
