LIV Golf Hong Kong Round 2: Uihlein, Garcia and Casey Share the Lead as Torque GC Rides an Ace

Peter Uihlein and Sergio Garcia each shot 64 to join Paul Casey at 11 under at LIV Golf Hong Kong, while Mito Pereira's hole-in-one helped Torque GC take a two-shot team lead.

Saturday at Fanling turned a one-man show into a three-way standoff, and the man who started the day alone at the top did not even do anything wrong.

Paul Casey shot a bogey-free 66 and still has company. Peter Uihlein and Sergio Garcia each fired 64 to join Casey at 11-under 129, three shots clear of the field heading into the final round of LIV Golf Hong Kong. Phil Mickelson, Mito Pereira and Sebastián Muñoz share fourth at 8 under. In the team race, Torque GC rode a hole-in-one to a two-shot lead over Legion XIII and HyFlyers GC.

Three Different Roads to 11 Under

The three co-leaders got there in wildly different styles. Uihlein's 64 was pure chaos: an eagle, eight birdies and four bogeys. That is a scorecard that looks like a seismograph, and the RangeGoats GC player seemed perfectly at peace with it. "I kind of just view it as entertainment," Uihlein said. There is a real prize at stake, too: Uihlein has four runner-up finishes in LIV Golf and is still looking for a first individual win.

Garcia went the other way entirely. The Fireballs GC captain played a tidy, bogey-free 64 that never looked stressful, on a course that clearly suits the Spaniard's eye. Garcia called Hong Kong Golf Club "an ideal kind of golf course," and two straight rounds without much drama back that up.

Then there is Casey, who has now gone 36 holes without a bogey and somehow lost sole possession of the lead anyway. The Crushers GC veteran had a pretty good read on why. "If Pete had not made a bogey today, he'd be about five shots ahead because of his firepower," Casey said.

Pereira's Ace Lights the Fuse

The shot of the day belonged to Mito Pereira. On the 149-yard second hole, Pereira holed out for an ace, the 10th hole-in-one in LIV Golf history. It powered a 64 that lifted Pereira into a share of fourth individually and did plenty of damage on the team board.

Torque GC posted 13 under for the round, with Pereira's 64, Muñoz's 67 and 68s from Joaquin Niemann and Carlos Ortiz, to reach 25 under for the week. With all four scores counting every round in 2025, that kind of depth is exactly how you build a lead.

Legion XIII Wakes Up

If Torque had the best total, Legion XIII had the best day by a mile. Jon Rahm's crew went 21 under on Saturday, the round of the week by any team so far, and jumped from a tie for 10th into a tie for second at 23 under.

The engine was Caleb Surratt, who followed an opening 75 with an 8-under 62, the low round of the day and a 13-shot turnaround. Rahm added a 64 that kept the two-time major champion's long streak of under-par LIV rounds alive and moved Rahm into a seven-way tie for seventh at 7 under, four back, alongside DeChambeau among others. Tom McKibbin (66) and Tyrrell Hatton (67) filled in the rest.

HyFlyers GC also sits at 23 under after a 14-under day. Cameron Tringale shot 64 and Mickelson added 65, with Andy Ogletree at 67 and Brendan Steele at 70.

Lefty Likes the Odds

Mickelson's 65, built on seven birdies against two bogeys, was good for a share of fourth, the best position the HyFlyers GC captain has held after any round since joining LIV Golf in 2022. That is a real data point for a six-time major champion still chasing a first LIV Golf win.

Mickelson already has the math worked out. "Tomorrow I've got to make seven birdies and have no bogeys, and I've got a shot at winning this tournament," Mickelson said.

Who Moved, Who Stalled

Fireballs GC sits fourth at 22 under, one back of second. Garcia's 64 led the way, with defending individual champion Abraham Ancer bouncing back with a 65 after an opening 71, and David Puig adding 67. Luis Masaveu, so sharp on Friday, slipped to 73.

Crushers GC, co-leaders after round one, dropped to fifth at 20 under. Casey and Anirban Lahiri both shot 66, and Bryson DeChambeau hit all 14 fairways on the way to 67, but Charles Howell III's 73 dragged the number down. Stinger GC climbed to sixth at 19 under after a 15-under day with all four players at 67 or better, led by Louis Oosthuizen's 65.

Smash GC matched that 15 under, with Graeme McDowell, Brooks Koepka and Jason Kokrak all posting 65, and climbed off the bottom of the board into ninth. The slide belonged to Iron Heads GC, which went 3 over for the day and fell from a tie for fourth to 13th at 6 under. Majesticks GC managed only 2 under as a team and dropped into a tie for 10th.

Sunday Is a Sprint

This is a 54-hole event, which means the final round is the only round left and nobody gets a mulligan. Three players share the lead, three more sit three back, and Rahm lurks four behind with a hot hand. On the team side, Torque's two-shot edge is thin against two squads that just showed how quickly they can go deep.

Casey still has a clean card. Garcia has the calm. Uihlein has the firepower. One of those things is going to matter most on Sunday, and Fanling's 18th will be waiting at the end.
