Gunner Stockton Throws Four Touchdowns as No. 2 Georgia Routs No. 12 Ole Miss 42-7, Snaps Rebels' Home Streak
Gunner Stockton threw four touchdown passes, Talyn Taylor caught three of them, and No. 2 Georgia ended No. 12 Ole Miss's 16-game home winning streak with a 42-7 win in Oxford.

Georgia scored touchdowns on its first three possessions, Gunner Stockton threw four touchdown passes on just 15 attempts, and No. 2 Georgia ended Ole Miss's 16-game home winning streak with a 42-7 rout of No. 12 Ole Miss on Saturday night at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi.
Georgia (8-1, 6-1 SEC) led 28-0 at halftime and 35-0 after three quarters. Ole Miss (6-3, 4-3 SEC) did not score until Shekai Mills-Knight's 8-yard run with 10:43 left in the game, and Georgia answered 97 seconds later with a 65-yard touchdown pass from Stockton to Talyn Taylor.
The win avenged Georgia's 39-34 loss to Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl in last season's College Football Playoff, and it was Kirby Smart's first win at Vaught-Hemingway. Georgia had lost its two previous trips to Oxford under Smart, 45-14 in 2016 and 28-10 in 2024, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Georgia scores on its first two drives
Ole Miss went three-and-out to open the game, and Georgia needed one snap to flip the field. Nate Frazier broke a 46-yard run to the Ole Miss 26 on the first play of the Bulldogs' opening drive. Stockton converted a third-and-7 with an 11-yard throw to Taylor, and Craig Dandridge finished the seven-play, 72-yard drive with a 4-yard touchdown run at 10:16 of the first quarter.
The next Georgia drive started at its own 4-yard line and took four plays. Stockton ran for 13 yards, Jaden Reddell ran for 19, and then Stockton hit Taylor for a 58-yard touchdown at 6:18 for a 14-0 lead.
Ole Miss put together its first real drive after that, moving 36 yards in nine plays, but Lucas Carneiro's 56-yard field goal attempt was no good with 3:59 left in the opening quarter.
A grinding drive and a pinned offense
Georgia's third possession was its longest of the half. Dwight Phillips Jr. ran three straight times for 18 yards and a first down, Frazier moved the chains again on third-and-3, and Stockton found Reddell for 23 yards on the last play of the first quarter. On the second play of the second quarter, Stockton flipped a 3-yard touchdown pass to tight end Ethan Barbour at 14:16, capping a nine-play, 61-yard drive for a 21-0 lead.
Georgia had one scare on its next possession. Sharif Denson intercepted a Stockton pass at 11:42, but a roughing the passer penalty on Ole Miss wiped out the turnover. That drive ended in a punt, and Drew Miller's kick pinned the Rebels at their own 2-yard line.
Ole Miss could not get out of the shadow of its goal post. Three runs gained 8 yards, Oscar Bird punted from the Ole Miss 10, and Georgia took over at midfield.
Twenty-eight points at the half
The fourth touchdown came on the short field. Facing third-and-3 at the Ole Miss 43, Georgia picked up 15 yards on a pass interference penalty against the Rebels, and the crowd threw objects onto the field after the call, according to HottyToddy.com. Phillips converted a third-and-2 on the same drive, and Stockton ran 15 yards for a touchdown at 2:42 for a 28-0 lead.
Ole Miss responded with its best drive of the half. Trinidad Chambliss completed five passes and Joshua Dye ran 12 yards to the Georgia 14. Then the drive came apart. Chambliss was sacked for a 16-yard loss, and on the next play, under pressure from Khalil Barnes, Chambliss threw an interception to KJ Bolden, who returned it 26 yards to the Ole Miss 44 with 46 seconds left in the half.
Georgia converted a fourth-and-8 on an 11-yard throw from Stockton to Lawson Luckie, but Peyton Woodring missed a 49-yard field goal on the last play of the half.
The defense takes over
Neither offense did much early in the third quarter. Georgia punted twice, and a 10-play Ole Miss drive stalled and ended in a punt on fourth-and-26.
The Georgia defense then made the play that put the game away. Ole Miss converted a fourth-and-5 at its own 39 with an 8-yard completion, but on the next snap Rasean Dinkins sacked Chambliss and forced a fumble. Dinkins recovered it and returned it 17 yards to the Ole Miss 22 at 4:44.
Georgia scored five plays later. Sacovie White-Helton ran 14 yards to set up first-and-goal, and after a false start backed Georgia up to the 6, Stockton threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Taylor at 1:37 for a 35-0 lead.
Ole Miss breaks through, Taylor answers
Ole Miss avoided the shutout with a 16-play, 75-yard drive that took 5:54 and stretched into the fourth quarter. The Rebels converted fourth-and-1 twice on runs by Mills-Knight, Horatio Fields caught four passes for 42 yards, and Mills-Knight scored on an 8-yard run on third-and-4 at 10:43.
Georgia answered in three plays. Bo Walker ran twice for 10 yards, and Stockton found Taylor behind the defense for a 65-yard touchdown at 9:06 for the final margin. Georgia ran out the last 6:04 on its final possession.
Stockton efficient, Taylor explosive
Stockton completed 9 of 15 passes for 186 yards and four touchdowns without an interception and ran six times for 28 yards and a fifth touchdown. Ole Miss sacked the Georgia quarterback once.
Taylor caught four passes for 140 yards and three touchdowns of 58, 6 and 65 yards. The Athens Banner-Herald reported that the three scores gave Taylor a team-high six touchdown catches this season.
Georgia ran for 295 yards on 48 carries, an average of 6.1 yards per attempt. Frazier led the way with 107 yards on 16 carries, Phillips had 66 yards on 11 carries, and Walker added 42 on six. Eight Georgia players had at least one carry.
The Georgia defense sacked Chambliss five times. Chris Cole led the Bulldogs with nine tackles and 1.5 sacks, Raylen Wilson made seven tackles, and Dinkins, Barnes and Khamari Brooks had one sack apiece. Demello Jones made five tackles and broke up a pass.
Ole Miss offense held in check
Chambliss completed 18 of 34 passes for 170 yards with an interception and a lost fumble, and the sacks left the Ole Miss quarterback with minus 12 rushing yards on nine carries. HottyToddy.com reported that it was the first time Chambliss failed to throw a touchdown pass in an Ole Miss uniform, ending a streak of 21 games.
Ole Miss played again without running back Kewan Lacy, who had a shoulder injury, and finished with 66 rushing yards on 31 carries. Mills-Knight ran 13 times for 52 yards and the touchdown. Fields caught eight passes for 96 yards, both career highs according to Ole Miss Athletics.
Joenel Aguero, Antonio Kite and Kam Franklin each made six tackles for the Rebels, and Will Echoles had the only Ole Miss sack.
Georgia outgained Ole Miss 481 to 252 and won the turnover battle 2-0. The Bulldogs converted 7 of 12 third downs and held the ball for 34:41. Ole Miss went 6 of 16 on third down and 3 of 3 on fourth down. Ole Miss was penalized five times for 50 yards, Georgia three times for 16.
