Lucas Herbert Wins LIV Golf UK With a Record 30 Under as Ripper GC Completes the Sweep
Lucas Herbert closed with a bogey-free 62 to win LIV Golf UK by six at a league-record 30 under, holding off Tyrrell Hatton's 63, as Ripper GC took the team title by four over Legion XIII.

Lucas Herbert spent four days at JCB Golf & Country Club making the rest of LIV Golf look like spectators, and Sunday was the loudest statement of all. With Tyrrell Hatton firing everything at him, Herbert answered with a bogey-free 62 and walked off with the lowest 72-hole score the league has ever seen.
Herbert closed with a 10-under 62 to win LIV Golf UK by JCB at 30-under 258, six shots clear of Hatton (63) and nine ahead of Bryson DeChambeau (68). It was a wire-to-wire win, Herbert's second of the season after Virginia, and it came with a team title too. Ripper GC finished at 52 under, four shots clear of Legion XIII, to complete the sweep.
Hatton Throws the Hammer
The final round did not start like a coronation. Hatton, five back overnight and playing in front of an English crowd, was 6 under through nine holes and kept going, signing for a bogey-free 9-under 63. On most Sundays that is a winning number. On this one, Hatton actually lost a shot to the leader.
"Tyrrell was throwing down the hammer at me there," Herbert said. Hatton was gracious about the outcome. "Unfortunately for myself, Lucas played incredible golf," Hatton said. Legion XIII's captain Jon Rahm, the season points leader, finished tied for 23rd at 4 under.
The Answer, Hole by Hole
Herbert turned in 5 under, but the moment that mattered most was a par. At the par-4 eighth, Herbert rolled in an 18-footer to keep the card clean. From there the leader pulled away, making four straight birdies from the 11th through the 14th to bury any thought of a collapse.
The stat line was absurd for a day with trickier wind. Herbert needed just 21 putts, the fewest of the round, and got up and down all five times the situation called for it. "It took a lot more birdies than I thought," Herbert said. DeChambeau, who played alongside the leader for the final three rounds, put it more bluntly. "It felt like he was just invincible," DeChambeau said.
Rewriting the Record Book
The numbers from the week will take some time to digest. The 30-under total is the lowest score in any LIV Golf event, breaking the 26-under mark DeChambeau and Rahm posted in South Africa earlier this season, where DeChambeau won in a playoff. Herbert also set league records with 30 birdies and 32 combined birdies and eagles in a single event, and the opening 61 was a course record.
The six-shot margin ties for the second largest in league history, behind only Cameron Smith's seven-shot win at Bedminster in 2023, a 54-hole event. It also capped a remarkable stretch: a share of the major record with a 62 at The Open, then a 61 and a 62 at JCB a week later. "Last week gave me a lot of confidence that I can mix it with the best guys," Herbert said. "It was nice to be me this week."
Smith, who tied a league record with eight straight birdies on Saturday, closed with a 69 to finish alone in fourth at 17 under. "When Herby gets on a roll like he did this week, it's awesome to watch," Smith said. Abraham Ancer and Caleb Surratt tied for fifth at 14 under, with Laurie Canter (66), Charles Howell III and Harold Varner III a shot further back.
Ripper Sweeps JCB
Herbert carried Ripper all week, accounting for about 58 percent of the team's total, and the closing 62 was the anchor again on Sunday. Smith's 69, Marc Leishman's 72 and Travis Smyth's 74 added up to an 11-under final round and a 52-under total. Legion XIII made a run with the best team round of the day, 19 under behind Hatton's 63, Surratt's 67, Tom McKibbin's 69 and Rahm's 70, but started the day 12 back and ran out of holes. Crushers finished third at 42 under and Torque fourth at 30 under.
It was Ripper's third team title of 2026, after Riyadh and Adelaide, and the Australian side's first in Europe. Smyth, filling in for the injured Elvis Smylie, also made a quirky bit of history as the first player to win a team title with two different teams in the same LIV season, having won with the Crushers at LIV Golf Korea. "A win is a win," Smyth said. Herbert collected $4 million for the individual title, and Ripper split $3 million from the team purse.
What It Means
The win moves Herbert to third in the season standings, though Rahm (938.44 points) still has a comfortable lead over DeChambeau (719.40) and Herbert cannot catch him. The bigger shift may come in the world ranking, where Herbert started the week 69th and picked up 22 points. More than anything, two wire-to-wire wins and a near miss at a major in the space of a few months have made Herbert one of the hottest players in the game.
