Sergio Garcia Wins LIV Golf Hong Kong With a Bogey-Free 63 and Leads Fireballs GC to a Sweep
Sergio Garcia closed with a bogey-free 63 to win LIV Golf Hong Kong by three at 18 under and carried Fireballs GC to the team title by one shot over Stinger GC.

Sergio Garcia walked to the first tee on Sunday sharing the lead with two other players. By the time the Spaniard reached the third green, nobody was sharing anything.
Garcia shot a bogey-free 7-under 63 at Hong Kong Golf Club to win LIV Golf Hong Kong at 18-under 192, three shots clear of Dean Burmester. Rounds of 65, 64 and 63 told the story of a week that only got better. Garcia also carried Fireballs GC to the team title at 37 under, one shot ahead of Stinger GC, completing a clean sweep of both trophies at Fanling.
The 6-Iron That Changed Everything
The final round started as a three-way tie at 11 under between Garcia, Paul Casey and Peter Uihlein. It did not stay that way for long.
On the 551-yard par-5 third, Garcia reached the green in two with a 6-iron and rolled in the eagle putt. That swing opened a two-shot lead, and Garcia never gave it back. "It really got me in a good mood," Garcia said of the eagle, per LIV Golf.
Then came the knockout punch. Garcia birdied four straight holes from the 8th through the 11th, the kind of run that turns a lead into a statement, and added one more birdie at the 16th. Garcia had called Hong Kong Golf Club an ideal kind of golf course a day earlier, and on Sunday the 45-year-old played it like someone who knew every blade of grass.
Burmester's Charge Falls Short
If anyone was going to make Garcia sweat, it was Burmester. The Stinger GC player fired an 8-under 62, the low round of the day, and climbed into solo second at 15 under. "That was a good round of golf. Really solid," Burmester said.
It was a terrific Sunday that would have won plenty of other weeks. It just ran into a champion who made no mistakes.
Lefty Finally Reaches the Podium
Phil Mickelson finished solo third at 14 under after a 64, closing with a tap-in birdie on the 18th after a strong approach. It is Mickelson's first individual top-three finish since joining LIV Golf in 2022, and the six-time major champion is clearly reading it as a sign of where things are heading.
"This is a building week as I continue to build into LIV," Mickelson said. Mickelson also credited a sharper short game, a notable shift at a course where Mickelson admitted on Friday the greens have always been a challenge.
Lucas Herbert shot 64 to finish fourth at 13 under, and Casey, bogey-free through 36 holes, could manage only 69 on Sunday and finished fifth at 12 under. Uihlein slipped to a 70 and tied for sixth at 11 under with Jon Rahm, Tom McKibbin and Sebastián Muñoz. Patrick Reed and Martin Kaymer tied for 10th at 10 under.
Masaveu Survives, Fireballs Sweep
The team race came down to the wire, and it nearly slipped away. Torque GC started Sunday with a two-shot lead but managed only 8 under for the day and fell into a tie for fifth with Legion XIII at 33 under. That opened the door for Fireballs GC and Stinger GC, and both charged through it.
Stinger posted 17 under on the day to finish at 36 under. Fireballs answered with 15 under, built on Garcia's 63, Abraham Ancer's 65 and David Puig's 67. The fourth score was the scary one. Luis Masaveu, the 22-year-old who had opened the week with a 65, bogeyed the par-5 third and the par-3 fifth, then made double bogey on the par-4 sixth.
With the team title on the line, Masaveu steadied and birdied the short par-4 10th, the final hole of the round in LIV's shotgun format. That birdie, and a 70, was enough. Garcia still had to par the 18th to avoid a team playoff with Stinger, and he lagged a long birdie try to tap-in range to close it out.
Masaveu summed up the captain in three words. "He's a machine," Masaveu said.
Garcia was just as quick to share the credit. "It was nice to see not only that I was doing well and leading the tournament, but my teammates were playing great," Garcia said. "Obviously when you can pull the double, it's a lot sweeter than if it's just one of them."
Ripper GC (18 under on the day, the best team round of Sunday) and HyFlyers GC tied for third at 34 under. It is the sixth LIV team title for Fireballs GC and the second straight after Adelaide, and the Fireballs now lead the season standings by 10 points over Legion XIII.
A Ryder Cup Subplot
The win also landed in the middle of a bigger story. Garcia rejoined the DP World Tour in November and is chasing an 11th Ryder Cup appearance, which would equal the European record. Garcia is already the event's all-time leading points scorer, and Europe's captain is paying attention. "We've been in touch, so I know that he's keeping an eye," Garcia said of Luke Donald, per Sky Sports.
Garcia knows the only lever available is the scorecard. "The only thing I can do is keep playing good golf, and I just want to help the European team," Garcia said.
The Takeaway
This was vintage Garcia: precise irons, a hot putter and a closing round with zero bogeys under real pressure from both a leaderboard and a teammate's scorecard. Three rounds, 18 under, two trophies. LIV Golf moves next to Singapore, and Fireballs GC arrives as the team everyone is chasing.
