In a thrilling showdown at Veterans Memorial Stadium, Troy football proved its mettle once again, securing a resounding 49-23 victory over Appalachian State in the 2023 Hercules Tires Sun Belt Football Championship Game. The Trojans (11-2) demonstrated exceptional prowess, not only defending their crown but also clinching their eighth Sun Belt Football Championship title, a record unmatched in the league's history.

Vidal's outstanding performance included rushing 26 times for an impressive 233 yards and an astounding five touchdowns, setting new standards for the Sun Belt's football title game.

Quarterback Gunnar Watson and wide receiver Chris Lewis also played pivotal roles in Troy's victory.
