Deedson Scores First FC Dallas Goal, but St. Louis Steals a 1-1 Draw

Louicius Deedson scored his first FC Dallas goal in the 48th minute, but Timo Baumgartl answered in the 61st as St. Louis CITY SC earned a 1-1 draw at Toyota Stadium on April 11.

FRISCO, Texas — Louicius Deedson's Saturday night was a quick study in how a first start should go. The Haitian wingback made his first start for FC Dallas, scored his first goal for the club, and then watched St. Louis CITY SC take a point at Toyota Stadium with a 1-1 draw. It was a night of firsts: Deedson's first goal, Timo Baumgartl's first MLS goal, St. Louis' first goal at Toyota Stadium and the Missouri club's first point there.

The home side stayed unbeaten at home this season. The visitors, for their part, left Texas with something they had never had before.

A Quiet First Half

For 45 minutes, neither team could break through. The scoreboard stayed blank through the first half, and the match was gritty before it was pretty. The referee's book got busy: Sergio Córdova for St. Louis in the 32nd minute, then Osaze Urhoghide and Christian Cappis for Dallas in the 40th.

Dallas goalkeeper Michael Collodi, a homegrown player, was cautioned in the 59th minute. He would end the night with four saves, one short of his season high.

Deedson Breaks the Deadlock

The second half did not take long. Two minutes after the restart, in the 48th minute, Petar Musa delivered a cross and Deedson finished it, a left-footed shot from the center of the box into the bottom left corner. It was Deedson's first goal for FC Dallas, and Musa's first assist of the season.

The context made it better. Deedson had just returned from international duty with Haiti, which qualified for the FIFA World Cup for only the second time in the nation's history. He came back, got his first start and scored on it. His night ended in the 67th minute, when Herman Johansson replaced him.

Baumgartl Answers

St. Louis did not need long to respond. In the 61st minute, Daniel Edelman found Baumgartl in the center of the box, and the defender hit a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner. It was Baumgartl's first goal in MLS, and Edelman's team-leading third assist of the season.

It was also, according to the St. Louis club, the first goal it had ever scored at Toyota Stadium. The draw was the first point St. Louis has taken there.

The Stats Behind the Draw

St. Louis' match report listed Dallas with nine shots and St. Louis with 11, with three shots on goal for Dallas and five for St. Louis. The number that matters is on goal: St. Louis put five on frame to Dallas' three. Corner kicks were 10 to five in St. Louis' favor, according to its report.

Bürki finished with two saves for the visitors. Collodi's four included a stoppage-time stop that preserved the point for the home side.

Moreno's Home Debut

There was another milestone for Dallas. Santiago Moreno, who made his club debut a week earlier at D.C. United on April 4, entered in the 67th minute and made his Toyota Stadium debut. He was one of three Dallas substitutes in the 67th minute, along with Joaquin Valiente and Herman Johansson.

For Dallas, the draw also extended streaks. According to the club, FC Dallas has now scored in four consecutive matches. It is unbeaten in its last 10 home matches in MLS regular-season play, a stretch dating back to August 9, 2025, and remains unbeaten at home in 2026 with two wins and three draws.

The Crowd

FC Dallas said the night extended its regular-season sellout streak to 39 consecutive matches. Including one playoff match, FC Dallas has sold out 40 straight MLS home matches at Toyota Stadium, the longest streak in club history. It was a cloudy, 75-degree night in Frisco.

What It Means

The standings picture is straightforward. Through seven matches, Dallas has three wins, one loss and three draws for 12 points, and it is unbeaten in four straight. St. Louis, which the AP listed at 1-3-3, is unbeaten in three.

For Dallas, a draw at home feels like a missed chance. A second-half goal, a lead, and a late period of pressure did not produce a winner. For St. Louis, it feels like a road point earned the hard way, and a milestone in the club's short history.

The Close

Dallas hosts the LA Galaxy next Saturday, April 18, for Star Wars Night, at 7:30 p.m. CT. St. Louis opens its U.S. Open Cup run on Wednesday, April 15, at home against FC Tulsa, and then travels to Seattle. Deedson will remember Saturday for a long time. So will Baumgartl.
