Kalani Kossa-Rienzi scored in the 83rd minute to salvage a 1-1 draw for the Seattle Sounders at FC Cincinnati on Saturday night, ending the club's record eight-game losing streak in MLS play.

Evander had given the hosts the lead in the 24th minute with his team-leading 13th goal of the season. Cincinnati carried that advantage for nearly an hour before Kossa-Rienzi met Albert Rusnák's low cross with a first-time half volley that left Roman Celentano with no chance. It was Kossa-Rienzi's third goal of the season and only Seattle's fifth in its last nine league games.

The point was a hard-earned one for a depleted Sounders side. Seattle arrived in Cincinnati without Jordan Morris, Jesús Ferreira, Cristian Roldan and Yeimar, and started Edson Carli for his First Team debut. The losing streak had dropped the perennial Western Conference contenders to 12th place and three points below the playoff line.

Cincinnati Left Frustrated

FC Cincinnati midfielder Evander celebrates with a teammate after scoring against the Seattle Sounders during the August 22, 2026 match at TQL Stadium.

The draw felt like two points dropped for the hosts. Cincinnati outshot Seattle 17-11 and put nine efforts on target to the visitors' three, but Andrew Thomas made seven saves to keep the Sounders in it. The result dropped FCC below Charlotte into sixth place in the Eastern Conference at 8-6-7 and 31 points.

It was a rare home blemish for Cincinnati, only its fourth dropped result in 11 home matches this season, and it came just three days after Evander's stoppage-time winner against New York City FC. The tying goal arrived after Cincinnati lost possession in transition at midfield following a corner kick.

Seattle returns home to face the Chicago Fire on Saturday at Lumen Field.
