Toklomati's Stoppage-Time Winner Caps Charlotte FC's Stunning 3-2 Comeback Over FC Dallas
Idan Toklomati scored twice, including a stoppage-time winner, as Charlotte FC erased a 2-0 deficit to stun FC Dallas 3-2 on October 10 at Bank of America Stadium.

Two-nil with twenty minutes left on a wet Saturday in Charlotte is usually when teams start thinking about the flight home. FC Dallas had the record, the cushion, and six unbeaten games sitting pretty on the resume. Then Bank of America Stadium turned into one of those MLS nights where the rain never stops and the script does a full reverse.
By the final whistle it was Charlotte FC 3, FC Dallas 2 — the Crown's 50th home win, a two-goal hole flipped into three points, and a first regular-season meeting between these clubs that nobody in Frisco will want to rewatch. Idan Toklomati scored twice, including the stoppage-time winner. Harry Toffolo headed the equalizer. Pep Biel stacked two assists and pushed his Charlotte career contributions past fifty. And Petar Musa's historic nineteenth of the season, the new FC Dallas single-season scoring record, became a footnote in a collapse that wiped out a six-game unbeaten streak.
First the business trip looked easy. Logan Farrington slid onto a low Herman Johansson cross in the 22nd minute for his tenth goal of the season — the first time since 2022 Dallas had two players in double digits, with Musa already sitting on eighteen entering the night. Patrickson Delgado was back in the starting XI for the first time since August 1. The visitors managed the game. The rain kept falling. Charlotte kept searching.
This was supposed to be Dallas's night to extend the run and bank another result on the road. Johansson’s service for Farrington was clean, the finish was clinical on a slick surface, and for long stretches Charlotte looked like a team chasing shadows in its own fortress. MLS road trips die in that kind of control. Charlotte just refused the eulogy.

Musa Makes History. Charlotte Starts Hunting.
Then Musa did the Musa thing. In the 64th minute, the Croatia international found the net to make it 2-0 and rewrite the club record book. Nineteen goals in a season. Second in the 2026 MLS Golden Boot race behind Lionel Messi. Fifty-three goals in eighty-four appearances since he landed in February 2024, tied with Homegrown Jesús Ferreira for second on Dallas's all-time scoring list. On paper, the night belonged to Los Toros.
On the pitch, Charlotte decided papers are for accountants. Six minutes later Allan Saint-Maximin took the ball on the left touchline, beat a pair of Dallas defenders into the box, and cut a pass across for Toklomati to tap home from fox-in-the-box range. Dean Smith later praised exactly that instinct: center forwards who score from two or three yards because they are in the right area. The deficit was one. The stadium remembered how to breathe.

Four minutes after that, Biel stood over a corner from the right. Toklomati and Toffolo both rose in a red sea of Dallas shirts. Toklomati's header caromed off Toffolo and bounced past Daniel De Sousa. Flames behind the goal, rain be damned. Two-two, and Charlotte had ripped the script in a ten-minute surge that felt less like a comeback and more like a different match entirely.
Toffolo had entered with Charlotte already behind and then watched Musa stretch the lead. The left back’s read on the corner — arriving with Toklomati in the chaos — turned a set piece into the equalizer that flipped the stadium’s mood for good. Momentum in soccer is a cliché until you watch ten minutes erase sixty.
The Stoppage-Time Dagger
Dallas still had the shape of a team that expected to leave with something. Charlotte refused the sit-back option. "It was not right for us just to sit back," Toffolo said. "Let's keep a high line, let's be strong, let's be confident." After Musa's goal, Charlotte outshot Dallas 7-2 through Toklomati's winner. That is not a team protecting a draw. That is a team smelling blood in a downpour.

A minute and twenty-two seconds into stoppage time, Biel drove into the final third, linked with Rodolfo Aloko, and then spotted Toklomati ghosting into the goalmouth. The first-time ball across the face beat De Sousa. Open net. Winner. Toklomati's second of the night, his eleventh of the season, his first multi-goal game of 2026, and a career-high tied. Biel's second assist of the evening made him the first Charlotte FC player to fifty-plus career goal contributions — fifty-one in Crown colors, twenty-four goals and twenty-seven assists — while matching his single-season assist high of twelve for a second straight year.
"Never give up," Smith said afterward. "You're 2-0 down with 20 minutes to go and there's still an opportunity to go and not just get back into the game, but to win the game." Toffolo, who entered at 1-0 and watched the night get worse before it got ridiculous, framed it as dressing-room character: dig deep, change the momentum, refuse the negative shape that invites pressure.

What the Numbers Actually Mean
Charlotte moved to 13-8-7 and forty-six points. Dallas sat at 13-7-8 and forty-seven after the loss. One point separated them on the table after ninety-plus minutes that felt like three different games. For Charlotte, it was the second time in club history they had erased a 2-0 deficit and won — the other coming September 17, 2022, against Chicago Fire at Soldier Field. For Dallas, it was the first MLS regular-season meeting with Charlotte in club history after a 2-2 Leagues Cup draw in 2023, and the ugly end of an unbeaten run that had looked sturdy an hour earlier.
Farrington's tenth made him the first FC Dallas SuperDraft pick to hit double digits in a season since Ryan Hollingshead in 2019. Musa’s nineteenth will still hang in the record book. None of that softens a late defensive unraveling that left Toklomati free for the winner and Toffolo free for the equalizer. The film will say it loudly.
Defensively, Dallas will hate the film. After controlling the middle hour, the visitors surrendered the left channel to Saint-Maximin, lost Toklomati on the cutback, and then lost both Toklomati and Toffolo on the corner. The winner was worse: a first-time ball across an open goalmouth to a striker who had already smelled blood. Records do not defend. Structure does.

Toklomati, for his part, pointed at the company around him. Quality on the ball from Saint-Maximin, Aloko, Biel — the kind of supporting cast that turns a center forward into a repeat double-digit scorer. Second straight season over ten goals. Night like this, you understand why.
Playoff Math in October Rain
October in MLS is when character stops being a press-conference word and starts showing up in the standings. Charlotte needed the three points for a playoff push and took them the hard way — from two down, in the rain, against a Western Conference side riding confidence and a historic striker night. Toffolo said the group wants the playoffs and wants to go far in them. Nights that end with a stoppage-time open-net finish after a 2-0 hole are the ones that get remembered in November.
Dallas flies home to Toyota Stadium for Seattle on Wednesday. Charlotte keeps building whatever this late-season version of the Crown is becoming: stubborn, vertical, and suddenly explosive after the hour mark. First regular-season chapter between these clubs did not end with a polite draw. It ended with Toklomati wheeling away, Biel with another assist on the ledger, and a Fortress that spent the last half hour reminding everyone why home nights in Charlotte still matter.
The rain kept falling. The scoreboard finally stopped spinning. Charlotte 3, Dallas 2 — and a reminder that in this league, a record-breaking goal can still be the prelude to someone else's story.
