PORTLAND, Ore. -- Felipe Mora's last night in green and gold was supposed to be ceremonial. Instead it was cinematic. Two headers. A comeback. A 2-1 Timbers win over Real Salt Lake on July 25 at Providence Park that doubled as a farewell and a statement.

Juan Manuel Sanabria opened for RSL in the 18th. Morgan Guilavogui saw red in the 31st. Mora equalized in the 56th off an Ariel Lassiter corner and won it in the 67th off a Kristoffer Velde corner. Attendance was 22,893. Portland moved to 6-8-3 and 21 points, 10th in the West. Unbeaten streak: three.

Gracias Por Todo

Mora leaves Portland with 48 MLS regular-season goals, 20 assists, and 145 appearances -- third in club goal history, tied for third in contributions, ninth in assists, 10th in appearances. Across all competitions he scored 56 times in Timbers colors. Both goals tonight were headers from corners. Both were game-tying or game-winning. Of his 48 MLS goals, 11 have been winners and nine have been equalizers. This was his sixth MLS brace. Against RSL specifically, he has 10 goals in 12 appearances including postseason. The tape fits the farewell.

Sanabria and Guilavogui combined on a give-and-go for the opener. Then Guilavogui's ejection in the 31st changed the geometry. Portland unloaded 25 shots to RSL's seven, earned 14 corners to five, and eventually found Mora twice in the air. Lassiter's service found the far post. Velde's service found the near. Cabral made five saves. Pantemis made three. The man advantage did not make it easy. Mora made it inevitable.

What It Means

Portland has now earned comeback results in back-to-back matches and gone 2-0-1 since the international break. Lassiter's third assist and Velde's fifth of 2026 are the supporting credits. Mora's farewell brace is the headline that will outlive the table math.

RSL dropped to a night that started well and collapsed after the red. Playing a man down at Providence Park against a Timbers attack that generates corners by the dozen is a brutal ask. Salt Lake did not have an answer once Mora found the airspace.

The Close

Some goodbyes are quiet. This one had two headers and a full building. Sanabria scored. Guilavogui left. Mora decided twice. Timbers 2, Real Salt Lake 1 -- and a Providence Park sendoff worthy of 48 career goals.

The film will show the two corner-kick headers and the red card that tilted the half. That is how these nights work -- one early visitor strike, one numerical shift, one farewell brace, and the narrative locks in before Cascadia arrives next. Fans leave loud or quiet. Coaches leave with clips. Players leave knowing July does not forgive unfinished chances.

Mora's ranking on the club charts will sit in the media guide forever. The brace on the way out will sit in the memory longer. Portland hosts Seattle next. The Mora chapter closes with the scoreboard reading exactly the way a farewell should.

Guilavogui's red in the 31st will be debated on the RSL flight and celebrated in the Timbers film room. Numerical advantages do not score headers by themselves. Mora still had to win the air, twice, against a reshaped Salt Lake back line. Fourteen corners help. Timing finishes them.

Velde's eight shots led all players. The Norwegian's fifth assist of 2026 continues a contribution streak that makes him the connector even when Mora is the headline. Lassiter's third assist on the equalizer was the first half of the farewell script. Velde wrote the second.

Pride Night at Providence Park already had a story before kickoff. Mora's exit wrote a better one. Clubs rarely get to script farewells this cleanly -- brace, win, comeback, history. Portland got all four. Real Salt Lake got a long night a man down and a reminder that Providence Park corners are a different sport.
