Antoine Griezmann Scores in Fifth Straight Match as Orlando City Blank Toronto FC 3-0
Antoine Griezmann scored for a fifth straight league match, rookie Harvey Sarajian added his first MLS goal and Orlando City beat Toronto FC 3-0, ending TFC's seven-game unbeaten run.

Antoine Griezmann has turned will he score tonight? into the least suspenseful question in Central Florida. The Frenchman struck again right at the end of the first half, rookie Harvey Sarajian came off the bench to bag his first MLS goal, and Orlando City SC beat Toronto FC 3-0 on Saturday night at Inter&Co Stadium.
That is five straight league matches with a Griezmann goal, seven goals in that stretch, and one very unhappy visitor. Toronto arrived unbeaten in seven league games and flew home with that run over and nothing on the scoreboard. Iván Angulo added the cherry in the sixth minute of stoppage time, and Maxime Crépeau finished with a clean sheet.
Toronto Knocks, Orlando Answers at the Buzzer
For most of the first half, Toronto looked like the team on a heater. Josh Sargent headed high and wide in the 13th minute, and a minute later Derrick Etienne Jr. forced Crépeau into a save in the bottom left corner. Griezmann had Orlando's best early look in the 15th, a shot from the left side of the six-yard box that Luka Gavran kept out, and Niklas Dorsch made Crépeau work again from long range in the 21st.
Then came the plot twist that didn't count. In the 32nd minute the ball went in off Walker Zimmerman, Orlando briefly had a lead, and VAR took it away a minute later. ESPN's feed logs Luis Otávio offside in that same sequence. Toronto kept probing: Etienne pulled a shot wide from the middle of the box in the 37th after a Dániel Sallói through ball, and Theo Corbeanu sent one wide three minutes later.
Right at the end of the half, Orlando finally landed one that stuck. Zakaria Taifi delivered a cross from the right, Griezmann arrived first and steered a left-footed finish from point-blank range into the roof of the net. VAR also took a look at a possible Orlando penalty deep in first-half stoppage time and waved it off, so the teams went in at 1-0.
Toronto Swings, the Kids Finish
Toronto threw Alonso Coello on for Corbeanu at the break and came out swinging. Markus Cimermancic forced Crépeau to stretch for the top corner in the 47th minute, Etienne missed from the right side of the six-yard box in the 50th, and Sargent dragged a shot high and wide on a break in the 54th. Coello's 66th-minute free kick missed just to the left.
Interim head coach Martín Perelman went to his bench instead. Daryl Dike replaced Martín Ojeda in the 65th, Justin Ellis took Griezmann's spot in the 70th, and Sarajian came on for Marco Pasalic in the 80th. Two minutes later, Dike slipped the rookie into the box, and Sarajian rolled a right-footed finish into the bottom left corner. Orlando's recap says the move started with a solo run through multiple defenders.
Toronto's response was pure chaos. Sargent smashed the crossbar from a set piece in the 92nd minute, had two more shots blocked, and Raheem Edwards forced Crépeau into a save under the bar. Then Orlando sprang the counter: Ellis found Angulo, the starting left back, and he finished left-footed from the center of the box in the 96th minute.
Griezmann Is Running a Different Race
Griezmann's line was tidy: two shots, two on target, one goal in 70 minutes. The ESPN sheets tell the streak's story: two goals against Real Salt Lake, one at Minnesota, one against San Diego, two at Atlanta and now this. Orlando says five consecutive matches with a goal is the longest single-season scoring streak in club history, and MLSsoccer.com notes it was his third straight game-winner.
The club also has him on eight regular-season goals and 11 goal contributions, the most by any Orlando player through his first 10 MLS games with the Lions. His coach sounded like a fan.
"It's a pleasure, a joy every day for me as a coach and as a person, because he's unique, he's magical on and off the field," Perelman said in Spanish, as reported by MLSsoccer.com.
Taifi, a 20-year-old rookie according to the AP, earned the assist on the opener and explained the rehearsal behind it.
"In warmups and training, I always practice that ball with him because I know he likes to make those runs and get a foot or his head on the ball, and I know he's going to be there," Taifi told the club's website.
Sarajian, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft per Orlando, needed two minutes to change his career highlight reel. "It's awesome. It's a surreal moment for me," he said.
Crépeau made four saves for his fourth clean sheet, while Gavran made five at the other end. Sargent took six shots and found the woodwork, but none of the six counted as on target in ESPN's data.
The Turning Point
Griezmann's goal on the stroke of halftime. Toronto had generated plenty of shots and had just watched VAR erase an Orlando goal, which usually is the moment a road team starts to believe. Instead, Griezmann popped up, the visitors had to chase, and chasing a team with Ellis, Dike and Angulo running into open grass is how a 1-0 becomes a 3-0.
Stats That Matter
- Possession: Orlando 58.3 percent, Toronto 41.7 percent.
- Shots: Toronto 18, Orlando 13, but Orlando put 8 on target to Toronto's 4.
- Saves: Gavran made 5, Crépeau made 4.
- Crosses: Toronto tried 18 and completed only 4.
Orlando Climbs, Toronto Regroups
Orlando moved to 10-4-11 with 34 points, and the club's recap had the Lions sixth in the Eastern Conference with nine regular-season games left. The sheets show a five-match unbeaten league run: 2-1 over Real Salt Lake, 3-3 at Minnesota, 1-0 over San Diego FC, 3-2 at Atlanta and this, three straight wins included. MLSsoccer.com points out that Orlando sat 13th in the East when Griezmann arrived and has taken 20 points in 10 games since his debut. Next is a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup semifinal at Columbus on Wednesday, then league trips to New England and Philadelphia.
Toronto fell to 6-11-8 with 29 points. The seven-match unbeaten stretch included wins over New England, Inter Miami and Nashville, but also four draws, and 11 draws on the season explain why the point total still trails the vibes. The AP has Toronto at St. Louis next Saturday.
Avengers Assemble, Florida Edition
The star sets the tone and the supporting cast handles the third act. It is a formula that sells movie tickets, and right now it is selling Orlando as a playoff problem. Taifi put it best to MLSsoccer.com: "It doesn't matter who's playing. We're going to win."
