Jordan Morris Sets Up Ferreira, Scores Winner as Seattle Sounders Edge FC Dallas
Jordan Morris assisted Jesús Ferreira and scored his first goal of 2026 as the Seattle Sounders beat FC Dallas 2-1, surviving a Michael Collodi penalty save.

For most of the first 15 minutes at Lumen Field on Saturday night, FC Dallas looked like the home team. Then Jordan Morris went through the gears, and the Seattle Sounders reminded everyone whose building it was.
Seattle beat Dallas 2-1, with Morris setting up Jesús Ferreira for the opener and then scoring the winner himself. Nolan Norris pulled one back before halftime, and Michael Collodi kept Dallas alive by saving a Ferreira penalty early in the second half, but the Sounders held on in front of 31,785 fans.
Against the Run of Play
Dallas started on the front foot. Santiago Moreno had the first real look in the fifth minute, forcing Andrew Thomas into a save, and Seattle's own recap admitted the Sounders spent most of the opening 15 minutes pinned in their own third.
Then the break. In the 15th minute, Morris broke down the right on the counter, slipped it into Ferreira, and Ferreira's right-footed finish took a deflection on its way into the bottom right corner. Per Seattle, it was Ferreira's first goal of the season in all competitions and his first ever against Dallas, the club he played for from 2017 to 2024. He did not celebrate. Seattle's notes also gave Jackson Ragen a secondary assist; ESPN credits Morris alone.
Danny Musovski nearly made it two a couple of minutes later, but Collodi saved his header from the middle of the box.
Morris Takes Over
The second goal was pure Morris. In the 30th minute, Snyder Brunell split the Dallas back line with a through ball, Morris lured Collodi off his line, and an outside-of-the-boot finish rolled inside the far post. It was his first goal of 2026.
That number undersells the context. According to the Sounders, Morris, the club's all-time leading goalscorer, hurt his quad in the season opener, missed a month, and was making his first start since Feb. 22.
"I just want to be back on the field helping the team however I can," Morris said, per the club. Wherever Brian Schmetzer deploys him, he added, "I really just want to be on the field helping my team win games."
Dallas did not fold. Collodi produced a reflex stop on Kalani Kossa-Rienzi from very close range in the 39th minute, and a minute later Dallas scored from a corner at the other end. Moreno whipped the delivery in and Norris flicked a header from the left side of the six-yard box into the bottom right corner. Thomas then got down to push away a deflected Patrickson Delgado effort in stoppage time to keep it 2-1 at the break.
The Turning Point
Seattle had a chance to put the game away in the 52nd minute. Paul Rothrock tore down the left, slipped the ball through Lalas Abubakar's legs according to the Sounders, and was brought down in the box. Abubakar was booked, and two minutes later he was substituted. Ferreira stepped up and Collodi saved his penalty in the center of the goal.
Instead of 3-1 and cruise control, Seattle had to manage a one-goal game for the rest of the night. They took the sting out of it with long spells of possession, but Dallas still had real looks. Thomas saved a Sebastien Ibeagha header in the 63rd minute and a Nicholas Simmonds header in the 85th, and Ramiro tried his luck from distance three times in the second half without hitting the target.
Morris knew it. "Getting that third goal would have put the game away," he said. "And obviously we didn't get that."
The Standouts
Jordan Morris had a goal and an assist on one shot. Efficiency, thy name is Jordan.
Andrew Thomas made five saves, including the stoppage-time stop on Delgado and two second-half headers.
Michael Collodi made four saves, including the penalty. Without him this is a rout.
Jesús Ferreira scored against his former club and missed a penalty against it. A full emotional range in 90 minutes.
Snyder Brunell supplied the through ball for the winner and fired two shots of his own after set pieces.
Nolan Norris scored Dallas' goal and won the aerial battle that mattered most.
Stats That Matter
- Possession: Seattle held 57.6 percent.
- Shots: Dallas outshot Seattle 12-9, but both teams put six on target.
- Saves: Thomas made five, Collodi four.
- Fouls and cards: Dallas committed 13 fouls and took four yellow cards. Seattle committed six and took one.
- Passing: Seattle completed 476 of 554 passes.
What It Means
Seattle move to 6-1-1 with 19 points, and per the club the win lifted them to fourth in the Western Conference and stretched their league unbeaten run to six matches, five of them wins. They are also three-for-three at home in league play this season. The club's notes said Seattle's home unbeaten run in all competitions now stands at 20 matches, the longest in club history, and that the Sounders have not lost at home to Dallas since May 25, 2011. Seattle's recap added that the Sounders have seven wins, one loss and three draws in their last 11 meetings with Dallas in all competitions.
"Last year, we gave a couple games like this away," Brian Schmetzer said. "The guys did what they needed to do to secure the three points. I'm very proud of them."
Dallas fall to 3-4-3 with 13 points. After back-to-back draws with St. Louis and the LA Galaxy, they have now lost two straight, to Minnesota at home and here. That is four league games without a win. Seattle visit Sporting Kansas City on May 2, while Dallas visit Red Bull New York.
Closing Take
Schmetzer summed up Morris in one line: "Goals matter, assists matter." Morris gave him both on a night when Seattle needed every bit of it. Think of it as a Marvel post-credits scene: the old hero walks back into frame, and suddenly the whole franchise feels bigger. Seattle's season has a lot of story left, and the club's all-time leading scorer is finally part of it.
